In Moving Saturn, a working car is pushed across a picturesque landscape and all sounds resulting from the action are subtitled. Our motivation for the gesture stemmed from a desire to deconstruct the connection between cars and cinematic escape. Removing the car from the street removed the car from its utilitarian function and allowed us to interact with its as an object of struggle rather than one of speed in order to address its symbolic cultural function. The subtitles present the possibility of narrative, but through the lack of one, they highlight the futility of the gesture as a whole and emphasize momentary actions.
